Inside Line Promotions – SIX NATIONS, Ontario, Canada (March 16, 2020): Alex Hill is looking to build on a strong performance during her California debut as she ventures to one of her favorite tracks this weekend.
Hill is scheduled to invade Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, this Friday and Saturday during the 47th annual Spring Nationals with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
“I always enjoy racing at Devil’s Bowl,” she said. “It’s one of my favorite tracks. I’m looking forward to it even more this time since we did well our last weekend of racing in California.”
Even though she had never seen either track before, Hill was one of only two drivers who qualified for the A Main both nights without having to run a B Main in a pair of racing events in ‘The Golden State.’ She highlighted the weekend by notching her first top-10 finish of the season among a stout field of more than 50 drivers at Merced Speedway in Merced, Calif.
“Racing in California definitely helped my confidence,” she said. “We didn’t finish last year the way I had hoped and our first weekend this year in Arizona was kind of disappointing. During that time we rarely drew well, which is important to do with this format. It kind of hurts your confidence after a while, even though you know that part of the reason is how you’ve been drawing. We finally had a weekend where we drew pretty well and that helped.”
Devil’s Bowl Speedway should provide a prime spot for Hill and her Hill’s Racing Team to build on their momentum.
“I enjoy racing at Devil’s Bowl because it’s one of those tracks that seems to suit my driving style more than some of the others,” she said. “It’s a track where I feel more comfortable and have more experience than at most of the other tracks. We also have more notes to go on there.”
