PETERSEN MEDIA: Travelling to Antioch, CA to compete in his first 410ci event of the 2023 season, Andy Forsberg and company fought an engine gremlin all night before racing to a 12th place finish in the feature event.

“It was one of those nights,” Andy Forsberg said. “Our engine ran, but we had something going on with it all night long, and we spent much of our night trying to get it figured out. We got it ironed out before the feature, but in our thrash to make some changes to the car, a shock got left loose and we gave up our 14th starting spot and ended up lining up 20th.”

21 cars checked into Antioch Speedway in Antioch, CA on Saturday night as the NARC/KWS Series made its long awaited return to the Contra County Fairgrounds. Kicking his night off, Forsberg timed the Meridian Cameras/Pacific Highway Rentals/Wilkie Masonry backed No. 92 in 12th fastest overall after being the second car on the clock.

Not pleased with how his powerplant was running, Forsberg and company went to work before heat race action, but still didn’t have it where they wanted to be as the Auburn, CA driver finished fifth.

With the hood off after the heat, the Forsberg Racing team continued to try a myriad of remedies, and finally found the issue prior to the feature event. Making the call for the feature, Forsberg would hot lap his entry and be pleased with how it ran, but was forced to the work area before going green.

In the thrash to make car changes after getting the engine issues ironed out, Forsberg would feel something amiss with the suspension in the rear of the car. With a shock being the culprit, the team sent ‘Mr. Excitement’ back on to the raceway as he now took the green flag from the 10th row.

A very slick surface did allow some passing to take place, but the race went nearly caution free. Working his way through traffic on the tight confines of Antioch Speedway, Forsberg raced his way back into 12th when the checkered flag flew.

“The track was slick and in decent shape and it did allow us to make up some lost ground from the back of the pack,” Forsberg said. “I do think we have our engine where we want it, and I am looking forward to two more 410ci races this weekend in Chico, CA.”

Andy Forsberg and PHR Racing would like to thank Meridian Cameras, Pacific Highway Rentals, Wilkie Masonry, PitStopUSA, Red Line Oil, Autism Awareness, Parking and Transportation Group, Western Featherlite, GP Development, 1st Vanguard, Highway Specialty Co., and KBJ Catering for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races-7, Wins-1, Top 5’s-3, Top 10’s-4
