PETERSEN MEDIA: Saturday night in Knoxville, IA, Austin McCarl was able to cure what ailed him in early season qualifying as he timed in very well and put the Country Builder Racing entry back on the podium at the famed facility.

“Saturday was a good night overall from start to finish,” Austin McCarl said. “Qualifying has really hindered us in the early season at Knoxville, but to time in well finally, it set us up to have a really good night.”

Timing the Country Builders/Walkers/Tucker Trucking/Kolthoff Electric backed No. 88 in second fastest in time trials, the Altoona, IA would line up in the third row of his heat race.

Showing the ability to pass cars at will in previous weeks, McCarl continued to do just that as he charged to a third-place finish, which gave him enough points to make the feature event inversion as he put his machine in the second row for the 20-lap affair.

Admittedly getting off to a slow start in the feature, McCarl searched the ½ mile raceway for a line that fit his car well, and when he settled in, he began running very well inside the Top-Five.

Keeping his machine well inside the top five, McCarl took full advantage of a pair of late restarts as he propelled himself up to third and chased after Brian Brown and Aaron Reutzel.

With Brown and Reutzel getting away, McCarl was able to still put the Country Builders Racing team back on the Knoxville Raceway podium by way of a third place finish.

“To get timed in well, run well in our heat and the feature, it really gives me confidence moving forward,” McCarl said. “A night like this is great for the Country Builders team, and I can’t wait to get back to work this week and try again on Saturday.”

Austin McCarl and Country Builders Racing would like to thank Country Builders, Ochoco West Lumber, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Walkers, Tucker Trucking, Kolthoff Electric, MAAS Brothers Powder Coating, Offill Family Farms, Stealth Cam, Bosma Family Farms, Muddy, HRP, Penske Racing Shocks, A.R.T.
