CARLISLE, Pa. (September 6, 2022) – Despite what turned out to be a lackluster beginning to their Washington campaign, Spencer Bayston and CJB Motorsports turned the corner in a hurry and eventually capped the three-day Sage Fruit Skagit Nationals at Skagit Speedway in Burlington, Washington, with a podium performance in the $26,000-to-win finale on Saturday, September 3, finishing third after starting on the outside of the front row. The Carlisle, Pennsylvania-based Outlaw program did their best to hound David Gravel for the top spot, but ultimately settled for third in the running order.

CJB Motorsports opened the Sage Fruit Skagit Nationals with 12th and 19th-place finishes, respectively.

For Bayston, ace of the TrueTimber Camo, Signing Day Sports, Bubbly Brands, JRC Transportation, Nyce Crete and Landis, Ecynbro Trucking, C&S Lawn and Landscape, Kistler Engines, No. 5 sprint car, the podium outcome in the Skagit finale pushed his top-five tally to 15 on the season, as he remains eighth in the World of Outlaws driver championship standings.

“That’s a win in our books right now,” Bayston said in his return to the podium. “I’m so proud of Barry [Jackson], Scott [Vogelsong], and Aydin [Lloyd]. A lot of work has gone into getting me more and more comfortable. There are just certain things that I feel I need as a rookie to carry me and the car, and I think we’re getting back there. It feels awesome to be back on a podium and contending for wins again.”

ON DECK:
Spencer Bayston and CJB Motorsports will continue their 2022 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with the three-day Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California, on September 8-10. Saturday’s Gold Cup finale will award $25,000.
