PETERSEN MEDIA- Climbing aboard the Bjork Motorsports No. 7b over the weekend with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour during the Peter Murphy Classic, Sean Becker would run well in his first stint with the team as he finished fifth on Friday night in Tulare, CA before a ninth place run on Saturday in Hanford, CA.

“I really want to thank Don Bjork, as well as Brad and Jeff Bumgarner for giving me the opportunity and working so hard to get me up to speed so quickly this weekend,” Sean Becker said. “In Tulare we were really fast out of the box, and I wish I would have gotten up on the wheel at the start of the race, because we were rolling at the end of the night.”

Making the trip to central California for the Peter Murphy Classic doubleheader, Becker got his night underway on Friday by earning quick time honors in his group aboard the Bjork Construction backed entry.

Finishing third in his heat race, ‘The Shark’ moved into the Dash and his sixth-place finish put him in the third to start the 30-lap PMC feature event opener.

Riding along inside the Top-10 when the feature came to life, Becker would get going around the 10th lap as he made took over the sixth position. Running well in sixth and mixing it up with some of the region’s biggest starts, Becker would make a bid for a podium stop amidst some exciting three and four car battles.

After a hard fought 30-laps, Becker capped his first night off with Bjork Motorsports with a fifth-place finish.

Making the trip to Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA for the PMC finale, Becker again timed in well as he ended up fourth fastest in his group. Running third in his heat race, the Roseville, CA again locked himself in to the 30-lap finale as he rolled off the starting grid from the 15th starting position.

On a racy Keller Auto Speedway surface, Becker was mired in traffic during the race’s early stages as he ran in 16th during the opening five laps until a yellow bunched the field back up.

Nailing the ensuing restart, Becker jumped up into 13th before taking over 11th a lap later.

As the track continued to slick off, Becker moved into 10th on lap 15 where he ran for much of the remained of the 30-lapper.

With just four circuits left in the race, ‘The Shark’ was able to gain another position as he moved into ninth where he went on to finish and closed out his weekend.

“In Hanford, I got off to a tough start in our heat race and it really hindered our starting position in the feature,” Becker added. “I really felt good late in the race, I just didn’t do a good enough job picking up a couple of more spots to give the car and team the finish it deserved. Really thankful for the opportunity, and hoping it may lead to more races.”

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-9, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 4, Top-10’s- 6
