PETERSEN MEDIA: Blake Carrick started his Saturday night off really strong, but unfortunately couldn’t seem to get going in the 25-lap feature event. Though he would slip back over the course of the race, Carrick would pocket his eighth Top-10 of the season.

“We had a really good start to the night, but we struggled in the feature, and I really don’t know why we were so off,” Blake Carrick said.

With 35-cars on hand for Mother’s Day Madness at Placerville Speedway, Carrick got his night started off by timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 38B machine in 11th fastest in qualifying time trials.

Putting his machine on the pole of his heat race, the Lincoln, CA youngster would need to pick up the win to garner himself a spot in the nightly redraw.

Getting the jump over Michael Ing, Carrick would lead all eighth laps as he picked up the win convincingly. Locking into the feature and the redraw, the three-pill placed him in the second row of the 25-lap feature behind eventual race winner, Justin Sanders.

When the feature came to life, Carrick would find himself back in fourth, and the first restart of the night would then see him fall back fifth. Slipping back to seventh on another restart on lap eight, Carrick would continue to battle inside the Top-10.

Keeping his machine in the Top-10, Carrick would cap his night off with a ninth-place finish.

“I have to thank my guys for all of their hard work,” Carrick said. “We had a good night going, so hopefully we can figure some things our as we get ready for two nights this weekend in Hanford and Tulare.”

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Eddie’s Lincoln Automotive, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support
