Inside Line Promotions – CARROLLTON, Mo. (May 5, 2020) – Mason Daniel is venturing to Knoxville Raceway this Friday for the first World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series event in approximately three months.
The half-mile track in Knoxville, Iowa, is the site for a one-off race for the series, which has been sidelined since February because of COVID-19.
“It’s definitely different,” Daniel said. “We already have some points underneath our belt so it’s not like everyone is starting with a clean slate, but it was like an offseason since we haven’t raced since Feb. 9. It’ll be interesting to see how we get back in the swing of things.”
Daniel is heading to a familiar track, where he captured a 360ci winged sprint car victory in June 2018 and recorded his career-best 410ci winged sprint car result of 15th during a Knoxville Nationals preliminary night last year.
“I think it’s beneficial we’re going to Knoxville for the first race back,” he said. “We have a lot of laps there and are getting better there in the 410. In general it’s a hard place to get good at. It takes a certain number of laps to get fast there. We’re close, but we’re still working on stuff.”
