A year ago, David Gravel showed his expertise at Knoxville Raceway and was the talk of Knoxville Nationals preliminary action.

Gravel was fast throughout his qualifying night and registered a perfect 500 score — fast time, a heat win and A-Main victory — to sit on the pole of Saturday’s main event. Unfortunately for the CJB Motorsports team, a motor problem ended his dream of a Knoxville Nationals title and racing immortality.

On Tuesday, Gravel joined the SprintCarUnlimited.com Podcast to discuss his mindset heading into this year’s Knoxville Nationals, the stacked field he is facing, and more.

Dirt Track Digest’s Mike Mallett joined Jeremy Elliott to host this week’s show. The duo took a look at last week’s storylines, broke down each qualifying night for this year’s Knoxville Nationals, debated if Brad Sweet is elite, and talked car counts in relationship to too much racing.

The podcast will be back next Wednesday with more banter about the sport. Subscriptions to SprintCarUnlimited.com are $50 for a year, $35 for six months and $8 monthly. Members have access to the podcast and all content on the website.
