Inside Line Promotions – ELDON, Mo. (April 12, 2022) – David Gravel captured his sixth podium result of the season last Saturday during the Jason Johnson Classic hosted by Lake Ozark Speedway.

The third-place run moved the Big Game Motorsports driver back into second place in the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series championship standings.

It was an efficient night for Gravel, who timed in fourth quickest in his group during qualifying.

“We were able to qualify good and put ourselves in position to get into the dash,” he said. “We won our heat race and got a good pill draw for the dash. However, I ran over a rock on the track at the end of the heat race and that put a hole in the bottom of the oil pain. We had to change engines and that didn’t give us much time to work on the setup. We didn’t have time to think about our race car because we were thrashing to make it out for the next event.”

Gravel finished fourth in the dash to garner the fourth starting position in the A Main.

“If you were really good you could make some stuff happen,” he said. “We were good enough to maintain. About 10 or 15 laps into the feature it got right around the bottom and took rubber. We did what we could and was going to run fourth. Brady (Bacon) got a flat and we ended third. With three laps to go I could tell our right rear was going down and on the last lap the car didn’t handle very good. I don’t think it would have made another corner. It was good to have some good luck in that race so we could finish with a podium.”

It marked the only race of the weekend as Friday’s event at U.S. 36 Raceway near Osborn, Mo., rained out.

A doubleheader at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., is on tap for the team this Friday and Saturday. Gravel scored a World of Outlaws win at the high-banked oval in 2016.

“I feel like we’re very competitive there and always in the hunt,” he said. “I’d like to get some more wins there. Hopefully we can qualify good and compete for a win each night.”
