CHICORA, Pa. (May 31, 2022) – For the first time in 2022, George Hobaugh and Hobaugh Motorsports earned their way to victory lane, this time taming “Dirt’s Monster Half Mile” at PIttsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway in Imperial, Pennsylvania.
Forced to recover after fading to fourth, Hobaugh, driver of the Krill Recycling, Laskowski Plumbing, Ridgeview Security, Hobaugh’s Auto Parts, Hobo Storage, No. 40 sprint car, made up lost ground in a hurry, eventually utilizing a lap seven restart to power around race leader, as well as stablemate, Carl Bowser. Hobaugh maintained control from that point forward, holding back an eager Sye Lynch.
The win helped snap a dry spell for the Chicora, Pennsylvania, open wheeler, as Hobaugh’s last victory occurred almost 12 months prior at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio.
“That was fun. It feels good to get a win, especially with Western PA Speedweek right around the corner. The momentum boost will be a positive thing for us,” Hobaugh explained. “I can’t thank my wife and kids enough for all of their hard work and dedication toward this race team. They are my only crew on a lot of occasions and I couldn’t do it without them.”

George Hobaugh and Hobaugh Motorsports will continue their campaign with the 2022 edition of Western Pennsylvania Sprint Speedweek comprising of five events over five days beginning with action at Michael’s Mercer Raceway on Wednesday, June 1. Action will continue at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway on Thursday, June 2, Lernerville Speedway on Friday, June 3, Sharon Speedway on Saturday, June 4, and Tri-City Raceway Park on Sunday, June 5. All five nights will award $3,000-to-win.
