PETERSEN MEDIA: Finally able to compete with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series after turning 16 earlier this year, Joel Myers Jr made all three feature events at Skagit Speedway including a fourth-place finish on Friday night.

“It was great to finally get our shot to compete with the World of Outlaws, and I really feel like just racing with them taught me so much more about my pace and how card I can push,” Joel Myers Jr said. “Making all three features during my first weekend with them was great, and to run fourth on Friday night was really memorable.”

Thursday night Myers Jr made his first ever start with the storied series as he timed the All About Fire Protection/Hi-Plains Building Division/DirtDudes Excavating backed No. 46jr in 19th fastest in qualifying time trials.

Running sixth in his heat race, the Sebastopol, CA driver raced his way to a third-place finish in the ‘B’ and was successfully in the feature event during his first ever start with the series.

Starting 23rd in the feature, Myers Jr tallied a 19th place finish when the race came to an end, and it led to the team making some changes during the day on Friday before night two.

When the Friday night event rolled around, Myers Jr got off to a strong start as he timed in seventh fastest in qualifying time trials before running second in his heat race and locking into his first DirtVision Fast Pass Dash.

Finishing fourth in the Dash, ‘Jr’ took the green flag from the second row of the 30-lap feature event.

Jumping into third, Myers Jr looked very impressive as he tested himself against the best drivers in the world. Running a very strong race, a late restart would see Myers Jr slip back to fourth where he went on to finish.

Feeling confident after a great run, Myers Jr was back in action for Saturday’s finale where he opened things up by timing in 19th fastest in qualifying time trials before finishing fifth in his heat race and locking into his third consecutive feature of the weekend.

Though he lined up 19th and wasn’t able to make much headway forward, Myers Jr was pleased to make the show and is confident he can build off of the weekend despite the 20th place finish.

“Running against the best and a track I don’t have may laps at and having some success is huge as we get back to some tracks I am more familiar with,” Myers Jr said. “They run at such a different pace, it really does test you in the seat, and I am looking forward to a few more chances to run with them before they leave town.”
