PETERSEN MEDIA: Though Mother Nature changed Joel Myers Jr’s plans over this past weekend, the youngster from Sebastopol, CA rolled with it and put together a strong weekend that saw him record a pair of Top-Five finishes.

“It was a good weekend for the Vertullo Motorsports team, and I think we are all gaining confidence now which is huge in this sport,” Joel Myers Jr said. “If we can keep racking up Top-Five’s then eventually wins will follow.”

Making the trip down to Tulare, CA on Friday night for a Kings of Thunder 360ci event, Myers Jr timed the Starr Property Management/Morrison Concrete/Hi-Plains Building Division fourth fastest in qualifications, setting himself up well for the remainder of the night.

Finishing fourth in his heat race ‘Jr’ made himself eligible for the Dash where his sixth-place finish lined him up in the third row of the 30-lap feature event.

With the track changing for the feature event and widening out, Myers Jr was able to utilize some different lines on the 1/3-mile-high-banked oval. Racing with the likes of Corey Day and DJ Netto, Myers was able to tally a fifth-place finish.

Scheduled to run in Hanford, CA on Saturday with the KWS, a ‘High Wind’ advisory forced officials to cancel to race and the Vertullo Motorsports team made the decision to travel to Placerville Speedway.

Getting to the track in plenty of time, Myers Jr would get the night kicked off by timing in 11th fastest amongst the 37 cars checked into the pit area.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Myers Jr would get the jump and quickly open up a sizeable lead. Leading the duration of the heat, Myers Jr picked up the win which would prove to be vital as it also secured him a spot in the redraw which lined up the first four rows of the feature event.

Pulling the five, ‘Jr’ would take the green flag from the third row alongside Tanner Carrick. On the slick Placerville Speedway surface, he was able to battle in the top-five for the duration of the 25-lap affair.

Using both the high and low groove during different stages of the race, Myers Jr was able to pick up his second fifth place finish of the weekend.

“Thanks to all the guys for working hard and being willing to make the long drive to Placerville Speedway on a moments notice,” Myers Jr said. “Like I said, it was a really good weekend for us, and I look forward to building on that this weekend.”
