PETERSEN MEDIA- Following the Sprint Car Challenge Tour to Hanford and Tulare, CA, Justin Sanders and Dale Miller Motorsports saw their two-race winning streak come to an end, but still had a monster weekend as they ran third on Friday night in Tulare, CA and second on Saturday in Hanford, CA.

“We came up a couple of spots short, but it is nothing to hang our heads about,” Justin Sanders said. “We could have been a little better, but to run up front at a couple of places we don’t come to a ton together shows how strong this team is.”

Sanders got his weekend off and running in Tulare, CA on Friday night by timing the Thompson’s Buick-GMC/Thompson’s Jeep-Ram/Dale Miller Septic Inc. entry in second fastest in his qualifying group.

By way of his qualifying effort, the Aromas, CA pilot lined up on the pole of his heat race needing to secure a win to guarantee himself a position in the High Sierra Industries Dash.

Getting the jump over Kaleb Montgomery, Sanders would lead the duration of the eighth lap affair as he took the win and secured position in both the Dash as well as the impending 30-lap feature event.

Pocketing a fifth-place finish in the Dash, Sanders took the green flag from the third row for the 30-lap feature event.

On a slick Thunderbowl Raceway surface, the Aromas, CA driver would quickly jump up to third before he moved into second on a lap nine restart.

Pressuring Shane Golobic for the top spot, Sanders would soon have his hands full with a surging Dominic Scelzi.

Slipping back to third with just 10-laps remaining in the feature, it would turn into a torrid battle up front as three of the best in Nor Cal waged war on each other.

When the checkered flag was displayed, Sanders capped the Peter Murphy Classic opener off with a third-place finish.

Make the quick trip over to Hanford, CA for Saturday night’s finale, Sanders would continue to flex his muscles in the No. 4SA as he earned quick time honors in his qualifying group.

Going from fourth to second in his heat, Sanders advanced into the Pole Shuffle where he would win the shuffle and earn the right to lead the field to green.

Getting off to the early lead, Sanders led the first seven laps until an early restart saw Corey Day slide up in front of him to drop him back to second.

With Day out front, Sanders would stalk him as the leaders found traffic and began dicing it up with slower cars.

A surging Shane Golobic had a monster run and was able to take advantage of traffic to get by both Day and Sanders, just as Sanders got by Day and he would continue to run second.

A couple of late restarts allowed Sanders to attempt to get by Golobic, but he capped the night off with a runner up finish.

“We still have a little work to do to get ourselves better, but these places are both tricky and we don’t run on them a ton,” Sanders said. “Thanks to Dale Miller and his team for making the trip down, and I am glad we had two really good showings.”

The Dale Miller Motorsports team would like to thank Thompson’s Buick-GMC, Thompson’s Jeep-Ram, Dale Miller Septic Inc., North County Plastering, 24 Hour Road Side Service, Anrak Corporation, Smith Titanium, Absolute Auto Glass, Frank’s Body Shop, Champion Brands Racing Oil, Rider Racing Engines, Walker Performance Filtration, Factory Kahne Shocks, Vortex Wings, TJ Forged Wheels, FK Rod Ends, Triple X Race Co., King Racing Products, and A.R.T.
