PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for the Placerville Speedway regular season opener, Justyn Cox would battle back from a tough start to his night by earning a 10th place finish in the feature event.

“These first few races have really been a big test and tune for our team as he re acclimate ourselves to each other,” Justyn Cox said. “We are also playing with some things to prepare ourselves for a busy Summer schedule, so we are learning what is working and what is not working.”

With 31 cars checked in to raise the curtain on the 57th season at Placerville Speedway, Cox would just narrowly miss the heat race inversion as he would time in 17th fastest in time trials aboard the Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/MDW backed No. 31c.

Lining up fifth in his heat race, Cox would be unable to work his way into a transfer position on a surface that was still fast and relatively narrow. Enduring front end damage of the final lap of the event, Cox and company would need to make some quick repairs to make the call for the ‘B’.

Making repairs, and making the call, Cox would take the green flag from the third starting position in the semi with just four transfer positions up for grabs.

Jumping into second when the semi came to life, Cox would spend the duration of the 12-lap event chasing after Kaleb Montgomery. Running safely in second, Cox wouldn’t take any chances as he settled into the runner up position and kept his night alive.

Moving into the 25-lap feature event, the Clarksburg, CA native would take the green flag from the 16th starting position. With the track still hooked up and fast, it did provide two lanes in the ‘A’, but with both lanes extremely equal passing would be tough.

Working his way forward in the fast-paced feature event that only saw one stoppage, Cox would make his way towards the Top-10. Making a couple of late moves, Cox indeed cracked the Top-10 as he would bring his night to a close in 10th.

“I really want to thank Steven Tiner, and my crew for their help getting us ready for the ‘B’,” Justyn Cox said. “It wasn’t a great night for us but getting up to Placerville and running with my family hanging out in the pits is always so much fun.”

The Cox-Berco Racing team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Berry Lumber,  Michael David Winery, MDW Sports, Cranked Naturals, Trex, Master Metal Products, Adrian Blanco Jewelers, PM Truck Repair, Justice Brothers, K&N, Konnected, A.R.T., Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, College Cyclery, Arai, Racing Optics, All American Powder Coating, VSR, , Tim’s Hot Rod Shop, Shell Shock, Don Ott Racing Engines, and Richmond Engines for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races-5, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-3
