PETERSEN MEDIA- An early race incident ultimately dictated Kaleb Montgomery’s feature event result on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway. Finding himself caught up in a lap five incident, Montgomery would recover to finish 15th with the F&F Racing team.
“I made a couple mistakes in time trials, and we ended up timing in seventh fastest,” Montgomery said. “Despite our night starting off how we hoped, we ran really good in our heat race and locked into the 11th starting position in the feature event.”
After timing the Bushey Financial Services/C&H Motor Parts/Lucas Oil backed No. x1 entry in seventh fastest in qualifying, the Templeton, CA driver would line up in the second row of the third heat race.
Laying down a stout performance in his heat, Montgomery would finish third and would lock himself into the 11th starting position for the 25-lap feature event.
When the race went green, Montgomery continued to run with that same poise he showed in his heat race as he jumped into 10th, and then quickly into ninth as he showcased a very strong Alan Bradway prepared mount.
Just as quickly as he got into ninth, trouble would ensue and leave Montgomery collected and stalled out on the track. Forced to the tail end of the field, Montgomery would restart in the 18th position.
Back in 18th, Montgomery would be mired in thick traffic and would not be able to get going and work his way back through the field. Picking up a couple of positions from the back of the pack, Montgomery brought his Friends and Family Racing machine home 15th.
“It was not the result this team wanted, but sometimes you just get put in a position with nowhere to go,” Montgomery said. “Big thanks to my guys for giving me a really good car, and putting us in position to do well after a tough qualifying effort.”
F&F Racing would like to thank Bushey Financial Services, C&H Motor Parts, Lucas Oil, Geico Local Office, Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes, Pacific Highway Rentals, PitStopUSA, FVP, CRV Carbon Solutions, American River Overhead Door, All Pro Heads, Engler, and Don Ott Racing Engines for their support.
ON TAP: F&F Racing will follow the Sprint Car Challenge Tour down south this weekend as they will be in Tulare, CA on Friday night and Hanford, CA on Saturday.
