PETERSEN MEDIA- Saturday, Kaleb Montgomery and the F&F Racing team had a solid run at Placerville Speedway that saw them move into second in the early season point standings by way of a seventh-place finish.

“We have been good at Placerville Speedway all year long, and Saturday was no different,” Montgomery said. “Unfortunately, we had some brake issues develop before the feature event and it made the 25-lapper a bit tricky. Luckily the track wasn’t as slick as it typically is with all the rain that has accumulated and we were able to make the best of it.”

Timing the Bushey Financial Services/C&H Motor Parts/Lucas Oil backed No. x1 machine in fourth fastest in qualifying time trials, the Templeton, CA driver would finish second in his heat race on a very hooked up and fast racing surface.

Using his strong qualifying effort to his favor, Montgomery would qualify for the nightly redraw where the six-pill placed him in the third row for the 25-lap finale.

In a late April rarity, the track would continue to stay in very good shape and retain a lot of moisture that created a very fast surface with some exciting action. Though battling brake issues, Montgomery was able to mix it up inside the Top-10.

Following a lap 5 caution, the next 20-laps would rip off without interruption which saw Montgomery spend much the race battling through traffic.

Able to jump into fifth for much of the race, the brake issues would hinder him a little as he maneuvered through slower cars while battling with the likes of Ryan Robinson and Joey Ancona.

Slipping back to sixth with just five laps left he in the race, Montgomery would go on to close his night out with a seventh-place finish.

“It was a little unfortunate to have an issue develop right before the feature, but we did all we could and made the best of it,” Montgomery said. “The F&F guys really have a good package at Placerville, and if we keep this speed, and the comfort of the car it should be a really fun Summer for us.”

F&F Racing would like to thank Bushey Financial Services, C&H Motor Parts, Lucas Oil, Geico Local Office, Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes, Pacific Highway Rentals, PitStopUSA, FVP, CRV Carbon Solutions, American River Overhead Door, All Pro Heads, Engler, and Don Ott Racing Engines for their support.
