PETERSEN MEDIA- Weather delays have summed up the early part of the schedule for Kerry Madsen and Roth Motorsports. Before getting out of California an event in Hanford was cancelled to high wind. Making their way back to the Midwest, the Knoxville opener was rained out and the alternative event in Pevely, MO saw the first night also succumb to rain. Saturday night, it looked as if the team would get a night of racing in at the re scheduled Knoxville Raceway opener, but amidst a really strong night rain would again show up and cancel the night’s feature event.

“Weather has been brutal for us this year, and if you add on my trip to Florida in February, I think it’s something like 10 rainouts that I have endured,” Kerry Madsen said. “Nonetheless, it was great to get back to Knoxville on Saturday night and I was really happy with how our night was going heading into the feature event.”

With 23 cars checked in for the long-awaited Knoxville Raceway season opener, ‘The Mad Man’ got the night off to a quick start as he timed the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co. No. 83JR timed in second fastest in qualifying.

Lining up sixth in his heat race, the St. Marys, NSW driver wasted no time showing that he would be one of the favorites to win in the feature event as he flexed his muscle and worked his way forward.

On a track that he has had so much success on over the course of his career, Madsen would carve his way to a second-place finisher and be the top point earner heading into the feature event.

Slated to roll off the starting grid from the eighth starting position, Mother Nature would have other plans as it became time to run feature events.

With a huge rain cell drenching the speedway, track officials had no choice but to delay the feature until a date to be named.

“It has been a weird start to the year, but it was great to get back to Knoxville and have a ton of speed,” Madsen added. “Big thanks to Dennis and Teresa Roth, Todd Ventura, Paul Baines, Gravy, and everyone associated with this team for their continued support and hard work. Hopefully we can get some races under our belts moving forward.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, Jason, Tara, And Cole Roth Cattle Co., Roth Investments, Speedway Engines, Toyota, TRD, Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Vahlco Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Smith Titanium for their support.
