PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting back to Knoxville Raceway over the weekend, as well as taking part in the Huset’s Speedway opener, Kerry Madsen was very strong. Though circumstances put him deep in both starting lineups, the Australian native flexed some muscle aboard his Roth Motorsports entry.
“We are really starting to figure things out with our cars and engine package, and we are really fast right now,” Kerry Madsen said. “Format kind of put us mid-pack at Knoxville, and then we had a minor issue hinder our qualifying effort on Sunday, but we ran well in both feature events, and I am hoping we can put this thing in victory lane while we race in Central California this weekend which is the home of Roth Motorsports.”
Saturday night at Knoxville Raceway, Madsen would get off to a very good start amidst a loaded field as he timed the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co. backed No. 83JR mount in fourth fastest in ‘Group B’ qualifying.
Lining up fifth in his heat race, Madsen was able to pick up valuable points as he finished fourth and locked himself into the impending 20-lap feature event.
Putting the Toyota powered Roth Motorsports entry in the sixth row, Madsen would impress on lookers as he lived up to his ‘Mad Man’ mantra as he worked around the famed ½ mile.
Passing cars at will, Madsen would make a late move to get into the top-five as he then battled with Aaron Reutzel for fourth. Getting the spot briefly, Madsen would ultimately cap his charge from 12th off with a fifth-place finish.
“We were a little bit of a victim of the format and ended up starting 12th, but we were awesome in a really fast paced 20-lap feature,” Madsen noted.
Sunday night, Madsen and the Roth Motorsports team made the trip to Brandon, South Dakota where they took part in the Huset’s Speedway season opening event.
Enduring a minor mechanical issue in time trials, Madsen would still time in 13th fastest of the 27 cars checked in aboard the Roth Investments/Speedway Engines/Toyota/TRD backed machine.
Starting and finishing fifth in his heat race, Madsen would again find himself mid-pack on the starting grid as he took the green flag from the 14th starting spot.
Just as he did at Knoxville the night before, Madsen would make his presence known as he quickly worked the high banked bullring to perfection.
Racing through the Top-10, Madsen would cap his night off with a sixth place finish as the team now heads towards California for this weekend’s Peter Murphy Classic.
“We were really fast at Bristol, and we continued to have that same speed this past weekend and it has Paul Baines, Gravy, and our team really excited,” Madsen said. “Big thanks to Dennis and Teresa Roth for letting us have some fun in the Midwest the last month, now hopefully we can get them in victory lane during a home weekend for them in Tulare and Hanford, CA.”
The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, Jason, Tara, And Cole Roth Cattle Co., Roth Investments, Speedway Engines, Toyota, TRD, Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Vahlco Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Smith Titanium for their support.
