PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to action in the Midwest over the Memorial Day Weekend, Kerry Madsen and the Roth Motorsports team performed very well as Madsen recorded second place finishes at both Knoxville Raceway and Huset’s Speedway.

“We would have loved to have been one spot better both nights, but I was happy to be in the mix at both Knoxville Raceway and Huset’s Speedway,” Kerry Madsen said. “We got a little late on Saturday which cost us in traffic, and on Sunday Timms let it all hang out on the last lap and he beat us to the line.”

Checking back in at Knoxville Raceway on Saturday night, Madsen timed the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co. backed no. 83 in sixth fastest amongst the 27 drivers packed into the pit area.

Lining up fifth in his heat race, ‘The Mad Man’ was able to tally valuable points as he raced his way forward to a third-place finish.

When points were tallied, Madsen put his TRD powered entry on the pole of the 20-lap feature event as he looked for his first win of the season aboard the famed Roth Motorsports car.

As the green flag waived, Madsen was hard on the throttle as he jumped out to the early lead and began to work around the famed ½ mile. With Austin McCarl in tow, Madsen was very quick as lapped traffic became a factor in just seven laps.

Getting in to traffic, Madsen’s pace would slow and it allowed McCarl to begin applying pressure. Able to fend of McCarl, Madsen continued to lead the way though traffic would thicken and make things more challenging.

Changing his line trying to allude the slower cars, Madsen would see McCarl sneak past with just three laps left in the race. Giving chase over the last three circuits, Madsen would be unable to reclaim the lead as he capped his night off with a second place finish.

Sunday night the scene shifted to Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, SD for what was scheduled to be the first of two nights at the bullring.

Turning in another strong qualifying effort, Madsen would earn Fast Time honors as he bested the 31-car field.

Running second in his heat race, the redraw put the St Marys, NSW native on the pole of the 25-lap feature for the second night in a row.

Just as he did on Saturday night, Madsen jumped out to the early lead as he looked to improve on his Knoxville finish from the night prior.

Setting a torrid pace around the bullring, things would get interesting in the closing laps of the feature as Ryan Timms reeled in the leader as he again navigated traffic.

As Madsen took the white flag, Timms let in all hang out as he made final bid stick in the final set of corners as he narrowly beat Madsen back to the line.

“I really want to thank Dennis and Teresa Roth for continuing to support our race team and let us hit some cool races all over the country,” Kerry Madsen said. “Bummer with how this weekend ended, but we are starting to really show some speed and hopefully we can get a win for him on Hall of Fame night.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, Jason, Tara, And Cole Roth Cattle Co., Roth Investments, Speedway Engines, Toyota, TRD, Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Vahlco Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Smith Titanium for their support.
