Logan Seavey has been tearing up the iRacing ranks of late, and it doesn’t seem to matter what kind of car is under him.

A couple of weeks ago, he captured Round 1 of the World of Outlaws Invitational at Volusia Speedway Park. He followed it up with a victory Saturday night in a NASCAR event and a Monday Late Model win.

But, Seavey wasn’t done there. On Tuesday, he wired the field and took top honors in the NOS Energy Drink World of Outlaws Invitational event at Knoxville Raceway. The win was worth a nice $1,000 payday.

“That track was really, really tricky,” Seavey said. “I think we were all hoping for more of a racy racetrack. The top was way too treacherous, and I knew my car was really good in the middle. We did a few practice races, and I was able to run through the middle like Donny [Schatz] has done so many times around Knoxville.

“Luckily, I got a good enough qualifying lap to get me up front and get me away from everything, and my speed showed in the feature.”

Seavey started on the pole and beat Robbie Kendall into the first corner to grab the early lead. Kevin Swindell charged by Kendall on Lap 2 to take second.

The first caution came out on the fifth circuit. Seavey blasted out front on the restart and was able to distance himself from the field.

Tony Gualda took third on Lap 8 and was all over Swindell for second on Lap 11. One lap later, he took the spot away from Swindell. Meanwhile, there was a three-car battle for fourth between Briscoe, Christopher Bell, and Kendall.

Seavey had built a two-second lead by the 15th circuit, but a caution closed the field up. The restart was much like every lap of this event, Seavey leading the way with Gualda and Michalski trailing in his tracks.

Danny Dietrich — at least it was thought to be Dietrich — marched from 17th to third by Lap 23. He battled with Gualda and Michalski over the next seven laps before the final caution was thrown on Lap 31.

With caution laps counting, Seavey was gone on the restart and sped away to his second victory in two nights at Knoxville Raceway. Monday’s World of Outlaws Late Model race was also held at the Marion Fairgrounds.

“I would say the way the track changes, but the way the late models and sprint cars race is definitely different,” Seavey said of running both cars. “Outside of the track changing and how quickly it was going to get slick, there wasn’t too much that carries over.

“Any laps on the Sim is, obviously, helpful. Regarding the cars, not too much [is the same]. It’s just the speed of the track slicking up, and I don’t think any of us expected it to go away that quick. They reworked the track before the feature and gave us some laps of practice, but we were right back to where we were in the B-Main.”

Brett Michalski finished second after Danny Dietrich hit the frontstretch wall. Dietrich, who was scored 10th, was later disqualified for not following the rules set forth by the World of Outlaws in regard to verifying who was in the car.

Gualda came across the line third, with Bell placing fourth. Kevin Swindell was able to battle back to a fifth-place finish.

“I was just trying to keep the car under me,” Michalski said. “The track was definitely slick and racy. It was a blast. I started sweating, so I think next time I’m going to get a fan on me here.

“I was just trying to work the bottom. I was up top a little bit, too, but I got into Tony [Gualda], and I apologized to him. He did get me a shot in the next corner, but it was hands down a lot of fun.”

Seavey set quick time on the night and won the first heat race. Kendall, Swindell, Bell, and Briscoe were heat winners. Trent Ivey won the D and C-Main, with Randy Hannagan capturing the B-Main.
