PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking the opportunity to shake down a new 410ci engine as they prepare for the upcoming Dave Bradway Jr Memorial, Michael Faccinto and F&F Racing overcame a mechanical issue prior to Friday night’s feature event and finished 16th in Saturday’s Peter Murphy Classic finale.

“It was definitely a learning weekend for our team,” Michael Faccinto said. “It was our first weekend running the 410ci engine and after we had issues Friday, we decided to leave it in for Saturday to make sure everything was up to par for the upcoming Dave Bradway Jr Memorial.”

Making his first start of the season with the King of the West/NARC Series on Friday night, Faccinto timed the Bushey Financial Services/C&H Motor Parts/RPI backed No. x1 in 13th fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up fifth in his heat race, Faccinto finished in the fifth position which put him in the feature event where he was slated to take the green flag from the 13th starting position.

Making the call, Faccinto’s entry wouldn’t fire when the push truck approached after a couple of attempts. Making a trip to the work area, the team worked feverishly to find the issue, but they were unable to and their night came to an abrupt end.

Originally slated to take part in SCCT action on Saturday night, they made the decision to keep the 410ci powerplant in their car and come with the KWS/NARC Series on Saturday night to continue to shake the new powerplant down.

Firing with no issues on Saturday after they spent the morning making changes, Faccinto timed in 15th fastest in time trials, before finishing seventh in his heat race.

Lining up 19th in the feature event, Faccinto made it to the green flag on this night as he went to work on the slick 3/8 mile oval. Mired in the back of the pack, Faccinto was able to lay down some solid laps as we raced towards the Top-15. Pleased with how the engine ran, Faccinto capped his night off with a 16th place finish.

“It was good to get some laps under our belt with this engine,” Faccinto said. “I only have a few 410ci starts under my belt, and it was our first time running one together, so I think we made some positive strides, and I’m excited to run it again in a few weeks.”

F&F Racing would like to thank Bushey Financial Services, C&H Motor Parts, Roseville Precision, Lucas Oil, Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes, Sacramento Battery Company, PitStopUSA, FVP, CRV Carbon Solutions, American River Overhead Door, All Pro Heads, Engler, and Don Ott Racing Engines for their support.
