PETERSEN MEDIA- In action on a pair of occasions over the 4th of July weekend, Michael Faccinto and the F&F Racing team put together another strong run at Stockton Dirt Track that culminated in a fourth place finish, before charging from the back of the pack at Placerville Speedway after get collected in an accident and finishing 11th.
“Stockton has been a really good track for us since coming together,” Michael Faccinto said. “Saturday night we had another good car and should have ended up on the podium, but we had a nose wing collapse from a huge mud clot, and we slipped back to fourth in the final laps.”
Qualifying second fastest in his heat race group about the Bushey Financial Services/C&H Motor Parts/Lucas Oil backed No. x1, Faccinto got the jump from the front row of his heat race. Setting sail, the Hanford, CA driver picked up the important win as he placed him in the High Sierra Industries Dash.
Drawing the four for the Dash draw, Faccinto earned a third-place finish in the Dash and that placed him in the second row for the 30-lap feature event on a surface that was extremely fast and not conducive for passing.
When the Saturday night feature came to life, Faccinto settled into third before he fell back to fourth after a spirited battle with Justin Sanders. With a car in front of the duo bowing out with issues early in the race, Faccinto moved back into third and continued to chase after Sanders and Corey Day.
As the leaders broke away and left Faccinto in their wake, he continued to look very strong in third as he navigated his way through traffic. Catching some mud off of a slower car, it resulted in damage to his nose wing that changed the handling of his car tremendously.
Wrestling the F&F Racing car around the Stockton Dirt Track in the closing laps, Faccinto did lose a position but still picked up a fourth-place finish.
Monday night the scene shifted to Placerville Speedway for the track’s annual 4th of July celebration. 28 cars checked in, and Faccinto timed in 11th fastest in qualifying time trials.
Front the front row of his heat race, Faccinto looked to pick up the win as it came with a berth in the redraw, but a false start sent him back a row. Lining up fourth in his heat now, Faccinto finished third which also transferred him into the 25-lap feature event.
From his 12th starting position, Faccinto was working his way towards a spot inside the Top-10 when a lap seven restart saw cars get out of sorts in front of him and eventually collected him in a multi car pile up.
Once the accident was cleared, Faccinto took his car to the work area where the F&F Racing team made quick repairs and got him back onto the speedway. Restarting 18th, Faccinto began working through the field on the slick surface as laps quickly wound down.
When the dust settled on the Monday night feature event, Faccinto had climbed back to 11th as the checkered flag was displayed.
“Unfortunately at Placerville we got caught up in a wreck that was happening in front of us, and it forced us to the back,” Faccinto said. “Lucikly the F&F Racing guys were able to make some repairs and get me back out on the track. Looking forward to getting back up to Placerville on Saturday night to try and put a complete night together for this team.”
