PETERSEN MEDIA- After a week away from Placerville Speedway battling with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour, Michael Faccinto and F&F Racing were back on the hill on Saturday night and back on the podium as Faccinto recorded a third-place finish.
“Each night out in Placerville we have a shot to win, and it is a great feeling,” Michael Faccinto said. “Saturday night we just got stalled out in third, but I know if we keep qualifying like we have been we will be in victory lane soon.”
Resuming regular season points action at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Faccinto kicked the night off by timing the Bushey Financial Services/C&H Motor Parts/RPI backed No. x1 in second fastest in qualifying time trials.
Heat race action saw Faccinto line up in the second row, simply needing to finish in the Top-Five to qualify for the nightly redraw. On a fast racing surface, the Hanford, CA driver got a good jump and settled into third.
Holding down the spot, Faccinto finished third and moved into the redraw where the six-pill put him in the third row to open up the 25-lap feature event.
Jumping into fourth when the race came to life, Faccinto capitalized on a Drake Standley miscue on the sixth lap and moved into third. Chasing after second running Ashlyn Rodriguez, Faccinto would pull alongside her on a pair of occasions pressuring for second.
While he could get to her and apply pressure, passing her proved to be tricky as the surface stayed in great shape for the duration of the feature event. Trying a few different lines trying to overtake the runner up position, Faccinto secured third when the checkered flag was displayed to the field.
“I am thankful to have a great team behind me, and I want to get them in victory lane again very badly,” Faccinto said. “If we keep working hard, I know we can pick one of these off.”
