PETERSEN MEDIA- Over the weekend Michael Faccinto made his debut with F&F Racing. In nearly a storybook start to his time with the team, Faccinto flirted with the SCCT at Stockton Dirt Track before finishing fourth, and backed it up with an 11th place finish on Sunday night in Marysville, CA.
“It was a great weekend aboard the F&F Racing x1 car, “ Michael Faccinto said. “I had so much fun working with the guys, and ‘Tooch”, Alan Bradway, and everyone else were extremely welcoming and we had a lot of speed from the get-go.”
Checking in at Stockton Dirt Track on Saturday for the Jimmy Sills Classic, the Hanford, CA timed the Bushey Financial Services/C&H Motor Parts/Geico Local Office backed entry in second fastest in his qualifying group.
Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the Hanford, CA driver nailed his start as he took the early lead which would be pivotal. Racing to the win, Faccinto locked himself into the High Sierra Industries Dash where a third-place finish put him in the second row to start the feature event.
Jumping into second when the race came to life, Faccinto chased after Andy Forsberg who led early on a very fast Stockton Dirt Track surface. Getting to his rear bumper on the fifth lap, Faccinto would race into the lead, only to see Shane Golobic pass him in the next corner to put him back in second.
With Golobic running into issues on lap 13, Faccinto would reclaim the race lead. Getting the jump on the restart, Faccinto would look very comfortable in his new ride as he was able to get through traffic and keep Forsberg at bay.
Continuing to run through traffic, Faccinto would see Ryan Robinson make a big move on the 23rd lap that put him back to second as he then bobbled and fell back to fourth where he would go on to cap the night off.
With a bit of a sour taste in his mouth on a personal level, Faccinto would check in to Marysville Raceway on Sunday night for the Mel and Marylyn Memorial where he got the night underway by timing in fourth quickest in his group.
Finishing second in his heat, Faccinto was securely in the 35-lap feature event where he took the green flag from the 11th starting position.
As the night continued on, the track would stay heavy, but holes would develop in turns one and two creating a very rough and tumble racing surface.
With much of the field wrestling their cars around the ¼ mile, Faccinto was no different as he was able to keep the rubber side down as he navigated the ‘Cowboy Up’ conditions.
When the Darren Stahl green flag was displayed to the field, Faccinto capped off a very strong opening weekend with the team as he finished 11th.
“Overall, it was a really fun weekend, but I’m a little disappointed in myself for making a mistake on Saturday that really cost us a good shot at the win,” Faccinto said. “I am looking forward to getting more races under our belts together and building on the speed we had this weekend.”
F&F Racing would like to thank Bushey Financial Services, C&H Motor Parts, Lucas Oil, Geico Local Office, Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes, Pacific Highway Rentals, PitStopUSA, FVP, CRV Carbon Solutions, American River Overhead Door, All Pro Heads, Engler, and Don Ott Racing Engines for their support.
