LEBANON, Pa.: You can’t have a big race without a trophy that fits the magnitude of the event, and The Final Steve Smith Sr. Tribute Race fits the bill.
The June 29th Pennsylvania Speedweek event will pay a hefty $50,019 first-place check with an impressive one-day purse of $188,000. There are contingencies in excess of $20,000, and now there will also be beautiful hardware passed out in Victory Lane.
Thanks to Roger and Brandi Crockett from Rocket Designs, Lincoln Speedway, and the family of Steve Smith Sr., the Final Steve Smith Sr. Tribute Race trophies will feature a one-of-a-kind look signifying this prestigious and memorable event. The winning driver and car-owner will receive trophies, as will the second and third-place teams.
“Roger being a racer himself and also a supplier of some of the most cutting-edge trophies on the market, he has done a fantastic job working through this design process,” Brian Leppo. said. “Roger was thrilled when we asked him and Brandi to build this one-of-kind of trophy for this event, and he knocked it out of the park.
“This just adds another layer to this event. We have a good purse thanks to all of our sponsors, a great venue in Lincoln Speedway, and now, we have cool trophies to commemorate The Final Steve Smith Sr. Tribute. I couldn’t be happier with the way this is coming together.”
The two trophies to the winning team are three-feet tall and two-feet wide. The winner’s trophy will also feature a removable revolver and also display presenting sponsor Schmuck Lumber/ACE Hardware and the associate sponsors.
One of the nicest touches for the trophies appears on the back. A signature featuring JoAnn Smith’s name and heart and Steve Smith Sr.’s iconic signature is representative of their bond and the time they spent together.
“We were all overwhelmed by what Roger and Brandi Crockett created,” Leppo said. “This event is so special to the family, and what they put together to capture that means so much to us.
“There are so many nice touches to this trophy. The money is great, but I think the winner, as well as the second and third-place finishers will want to have one of these trophies in their trophy case.”
