PETERSEN MEDIA: Despite rain delaying the start of his weekend by washing out Jacksonville Speedway’s event on Friday, Paul Nienhiser would finish sixth with MOWA on Saturday at Highland Speedway before running second at 34-Raceway on Sunday night.

“We had our fair share of troubles in the feature on Saturday night, but I felt like we had just as fast of a car as anyone, so it was a little disappointing,” Paul Nienhiser said.

Starting fifth in his heat race aboard the CAM2 Lubricants/Buffalo Wild Wings/Innovative Designs No. 9x, the Chapin, IL driver would race to a fourth-place finish on the choppy and narrow Highland Speedway surface that was offered up early in the night.

With the track continuing to remain choppy all night, Nienhiser and company would make a couple of adjustments prior to the feature event where he did take the green flag from the 11th starting spot.

Coming to green, a bottle neck would take place, and it resulted in Nienhiser getting turned before the race came to life, and it forced him to the tail end of the field.

Despite the nose wing damage that was endured during the pile up, Nienhiser had a very racy car that saw him crack the Top-10 within the first eight laps of the feature event.

Ripping the top, Nienhiser would push the limit too much and he would bicycle on the cushion and lose a couple of positions. Once he gathered his car back up, he picked up a full head of steam and worked his way to a sixth-place finish when the checkered flag was displayed to the field.

Making the trip to Burlington, IA on Sunday night, Paul Nienhiser hopped in the Scott Bonar owned No. 50 car, Nienhiser would flex his muscle early as he picked up the win in his heat race from his pole position.

Moving into the Dash, Nienhiser had a strong car under him, but with the redraw taking place after the Dash, he didn’t push it and just made solid laps.

With Lady Luck on his side, Nienhiser would find himself on the pole as he would be set to lead the field to green.

As the night moved on, the track slicked off and became very wide. Starting on the pole, Nienhiser had to commit to a line as he was successful during the first 10-laps but as the track changed cars behind him were able to move around and soon battle for the lead.

Running in traffic, Nienhiser would slip back to second before a hard charging Chase Randall dropped him to third.

Moving lines, the Chapin, IL driver would get to the top of the track and reel the lead duo back in as he moved into second and closed in on the Randall.

Throwing a last corner slider, a slower car would impede Nienhiser’s progress, and he could only hope that the leader would bobble out of four, which he did not, and Nienhiser ended up second.

“I really wish we could have started in the second or third row, so I could see the track change, because starting up front you really have no clue and you can’t afford to go searching,” Nienhiser said. “Chase Randall did run a great race and we flat got beat.”

Nienhiser would like to thank CAM2 Lubricants, Buffalo Wild Wings, Innovative Design, Mason Sound, Bradshaw Custom Pumping, Signature Signs & Design, Sunstoppers Window Tinting, American Rental Center, Fierce Herbicide, Guse’s Pub & Eatery, Wessler Bros Agency, Willhite Mowing, T&K Tree Services, Engler Machine and Tool, FK Indy, Rider Racing Engines, Midland Performance, Simpson Race Products, Smith Titanium, and Premier Powder Coating for their continued support.

Nienhiser would also like to thank Midland Performance, Kinney Racing Engines, Rockstar Wraps, Heartland Trailer Manufacturing, Robert’s Tire Center, and Stronghurst Collision for their support of the No. 50 car.
