Pennsylvania Sprint Car Speedweek is no longer a series reserved for local drives and teams from the Keystone State.

Over the years, purses have increased and so has the number of races. That’s led to more interest and a yearly contingent of invaders coming in from other areas of the country.

This year is no different. Here is a look at the star-studded group of invaders who are tentatively scheduled to converge on central Pennsylvania and Maryland for the 31st edition of the Summer extravaganza.

Rico Abreu: The California driver has been a fixture at Pennsylvania Speedweek the last couple of seasons, and he’s made the most of his trips. Abreu has two Speedweek victories to his credit, one of which came at Selinsgrove in 2017 with the other coming at Lincoln last year. Look for Abreu to run the entire 10-race series and be in contention for some wins.

Justin Peck: Earlier this year, Peck turned heads by winning a pair of races in the region and is still in the top five in laps led in Central Pa. with 50.  Things have slowed down a bit due to some bad luck, but the Indiana driver earned an Ohio Speedweek victory last week and hopes to carry that success into PA Speedweek, which he plans to run in its entirety.

Paul McMahan: It’s going to be a busy week for CJB Motorsports and team organizer Barry Jackson. There will be two entries out of the CJB stable at six of the events, with McMahan slated to run the entire 10-race series. The Tennessee driver has always been a good qualifier, which could put him in position for another big win.

Sam Hafertepe Jr.: The last Pennsylvania Speedweek show that was held at Big Diamond Raceway in 2013 was won by Hafertepe. Now, he is back for another full Speedweek slate and looking for that second victory. Hafertepe knows Central Pa. pretty well and seems to time well, which could put him near the front.

Buddy Kofoid: This might be one of the most anticipated visits by an invader, as Kofoid brings unlimited talent to the region running a second CJB Motorsports entry. The California standout will compete in the first five Speedweek events and could be back for the finale at Selinsgrove, which should give him a crack or two at visiting Victory Lane.

Kyle Larson: One guy you can guarantee running up front is Larson. The NASCAR star won four of nine shows last year on his way to the Pennsylvania Speedweek title. Larson, who owns eight Speedweek wins, is tentatively scheduled to arrive Monday and stay through the Thursday night event at Hagerstown. He is the heavy favorite every time he pulls into the pit area.

Cory Eliason: According to Eliason, he is going to arrive in Pennsylvania for the 31st edition of Speedweek sometime in the middle of the week. It could be Grandview on Tuesday or Wednesday’s show at Port Royal. How long Eliason and the Rudeen Racing team stay around the region could depend on performance.

Daryn Pittman: Pittman hasn’t spent much time in the seat this season, but he is no stranger to running in the Central Pa. region. It also helps that he will be in a quick car wrenched by Kevin Swindell. The plan is for Pittman, who has four Speedweek wins, to arrive Wednesday at Port Royal and stay for four races. As for the Swindell SpeedLab team, the slate consists of six races with a mystery driver — Christopher Bell — in the seat at Lincoln and Grandview.

Skylar Gee: Gee indicated on social media that he will be running the first four events and the Wednesday show at Port Royal Speedway. Mark Coldren and Gee are still in the beginning stages of their partnership, but they did manage a top-five finish during Ohio Speedweek. In case people forget, Gee has an All Star win at Lincoln Speedway, so it will be interesting to see how he backs it up.
