PETERSEN MEDIA: Justin Sanders had a speed week for the ages. Kicking things off with a trio of podiums, Sanders ended as good as possible as he won all four races at Cottage Grove Speedway including the Marvin Smith Memorial to cap off a Speedweek Championship.

“Despite running really well at Skagit and Sunset, the car felt off and I leaned on my buddy Wayne Priddy for some help,” Justin Sanders said. “Putting our heads together helped as we had nearly four perfect nights of racing.”

Getting back up to Skagit Speedway for the Summer Nationals after a strong showing at June’s Dirt Cup, Sanders was equally as impressive as he charged from 19th to second on the first night and locked into Saturday’s finale.

Battling with Trey Starks and Tanner Holmes during Saturday’s finale, Sanders earned a third-place finish before Speedweek headed south and invaded Oregon.

Getting to Banks, OR Sanders would have a good run as he ripped around the fence to pocket another third-place finish, but he still felt like the Farmers Brewing/Mittry Construction/North County Plastering No. 2x had more.

Going to work before four nights of racing at Cottage Grove Speedway, Sanders would be rewarded for his hard work.

Tuesday and Wednesday night, Sanders flexed his muscle as he was able to pick up wins during the first two nights of action with Thursday’s scheduled off day the only thing that slowed him down.

Continuing to look for more speed, Sanders came back on Friday night just as good as he made quick work of the field at the scenic ¼ mile bullring nestled in Cottage Grove, OR and picked up his 11th win of the season.

Looking to go a perfect four for four at Cottage Grove Speedweek to cap the week off and give him even more confidence heading into Knoxville, Sanders would again steal the show.

Showing the fans in Oregon what his California contingent has witnessed the last few years, Sanders would not be denied as he capped off the Cottage Grove Sweep with a Marvin Smith Memorial win.

“We were a Rocketship at Cottage Grove, and to sweep the week is pretty amazing,” Sanders added.

With Northwest Speedweek in the books, Sanders now turns his attention to the biggest stretch of racing in his career, Southern Iowa Speedweeks which will include the Knoxville 360ci Nationals, the Capitani Classic, the Front Row Challenge, and the Knoxville Nationals all before taking part in the High Limit Series’ inaugural event in Putnamville, IN.

Sanders is eager for a great opportunity to take the wheel of the famed Swindell Speed Lab No. 39.

“Getting the chance to work with Kevin Swindell and his crew is really cool, and I am really thankful for the opportunity to battle against the best in the world the next few weeks,” Sanders said. “I think running with a former driver turned mechanic will suit me very well and I know the car will be really good. It will be up to me get up to speed as fast as I can.”

Justin and his team would like to thank Farmers Brewing, Mittry Construction, North County Plastering, Alkaline88, Andy’s Construction, Roadside 24hr Service, Wicked Cushion, Roger’s Diner, Factory Kahne, BG Labels and Tee’s, Walker Performance Filtration, Dixon and Son Tires, Ernie’s Service Center, East Lake Village, FK Rod Ends, Triple X Race Co., DMI, Keizer Wheels, Wings Unlimited, Ti64 Titanium, AIS Heating and Sheet Metal, Fred Lint and Family, JonSan Racing, Sandblast Service, G&N Construction, Steitz Towing, Durden Construction, Ernie’s Service Center, and Steve Duppman Racing for their continued support in 2022.
