PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking part in the 360 portion of the Peter Murphy Classic in Hanford, CA over the weekend, Sean Becker picked up a seventh place finish on Friday night with the Kings of Thunder Series before a 10th place run on Saturday night under Sprint Car Challenge Tour sanction.

“Overall, it was a solid weekend,” Sean Becker said. “We fixed some power steering line issues we fought in qualifying Friday night, and we learned a lot as a team and continued to make progress all weekend long.”

Fighting issues in time trials on Friday night, Becker timed the Bjork Construction backed No. 7B in 18th fastest in time trials and lined up in the third row of his heat race.

Starting and finishing sixth in his heat race, Becker locked into the feature event as he rolled off  the starting grid from the 17th starting spot. Mired deep in the field, ‘The Shark’ came to life when the green flag was displayed to the field.

Jumping into 13th in the first three laps of the race, Becker was up into 12th on the fifth lap as he continued to make speed on the slick surface. Breaking into the Top-10 just before the halfway point of the feature, Becker would briefly drop back to 11th on lap 15.

Back into the Top-10 on the 18th lap, the Roseville, CA driver raced into eighth with five laps left the contest. As time ran out on the feature, Becker made a late move to take over seventh where he went on to finish.

Returning to action on Saturday night with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour, Becker and company were again in action at Kings Speedway for the final night of Peter Murphy Classic action.

Getting off to a much better start, Becker timed in third fastest in his qualifying group and put his entry on the front row of his heat race, and in a prime position for a Dash berth.

Winning the heat going away, Becker transferred into the feature event, and locked into the Dash. Pulling the one pill, Becker led the field to green in the six lap Dash before finishing second.

On the front row of the 30-lap feature, Becker would not get the drive off of turn two he had hoped for as he slipped back to fourth on the opening lap with a gaggle of cars battling for the top spot.

Once in fourth, Becker would get into a couple of hard-fought battles throughout the race but slowly faded back through the Top-10. When the dust settled on the finale, Becker ended his night with a 10th place finish.

“Saturday night we put ourselves in a great position, but I lost my road map in the feature and just couldn’t keep pace with the big boys,” Becker added. “I do think the direction of this team is promising, and I’m really looking forward to the next time we get to run together.”

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-7, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 0, Top-10’s- 4

ON TAP: Becker is hoping things come together for the Bjork Motorsports team to run in Petaluma, CA this weekend, but it is TBD at this time.
