PETERSEN MEDIA- Since getting ‘the band’ back together in late July, Sean Becker and Monhoff Racing have taken some time to come back to life. This weekend, everything seemed to come together for the team as Becker worked his way forward and picked up a third-place finish during Sunday’s Nor*Cal Posse Shootout finale.

“We had a really solid weekend, and every time we hit the track, we were better than the time before,” Sean Becker said. “We had a better car than Saturday’s result showed but a car coming back on the track kind of threw a wrench into our run and relegated us back to 11th.”

Timing in sixth fastest during Saturday’s qualifying session, ‘The Shark’ found himself in the third row of his heat race needing to finish inside the Top-5 to transfer directly into the feature event.

Racing to a fifth-place finish, Becker punched his ticket and was set to take the green flag from the 18th starting position. On a slick and racy Placerville Speedway surface, the Roseville, CA driver was able to make some early headway as he charged towards the Top-10.

Getting into 10th, Becker would continue to battle as he raced into eighth with just sixth laps to go. Continuing to gain ground, Becker would endure contact from a car returning to the racing surface and it forced him to get on the binders and fall back.

Once able to get back up to speed, Becker was back in 11th where he went on to close his night out.

Returning to the track for Sunday’s finale, Becker timed in fourth fastest, and put on a show in his heat race as he surged to a second-place finish. After the heat, the team discovered they had a rear-end problem and it was an all hands on deck effort to make the swap.

Able to make repairs, Becker rolled out for the feature event from the fourth starting position on a slick Placerville Speedway surface. When the race came to life, Becker hooked up in a very entertaining battle with the likes of Justin Sanders as they battled for the position well inside the Top-Five.

As the leaders got into traffic on the ninth lap, the action heated up as the Sanders and Becker battle now involved second running Dylan Bloomfield.

Continuing to navigate dense traffic, Becker was in third when the caution flew on the 19th lap.

When things resumed, he continued to hound Sanders for second as it took another 10-laps to get into traffic. As Sanders and Tanner Carrick battled hard in the closing laps, Becker closed in and was waiting in the wings if either had a misstep in traffic.

Though he was able to close in on them, he couldn’t quite find a way to get by and capped his Placerville season off with a third-place finish.

“I really want to thank everyone that helped us change the rear end, because there was a lot of people there to help,” Becker said. “Thankful for the opportunity to run with Dan Monhoff again and happy to get him up on the podium”
