Inside Line Promotions – PEVELY, Mo. (May 27, 2020) – Trey Starks is hopeful for better luck during his debut at a new track this weekend than the Gobrecht Motorsports team found last weekend.
Starks will head to Park Jefferson International Speedway in North Sioux City, S.D., on Friday and Saturday for Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions races. It marks not only his first time at the track, but also his first time racing in South Dakota.
“Usually we’re good at new tracks,” he said. “That didn’t work out so well last weekend. We’re making some changes this week to some components. We’ll see if we can start strong.”
Starks is coming off a frustrating debut at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 last weekend when 60-plus drivers tackled the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series doubleheader.
“These are the hardest races that people are seeing in a long time,” he said. “You have 60 of the absolute best drivers in the sport. You can’t give up anything. We had a crank trigger switch go bad in qualifying Friday so that put us in a tough spot to start the weekend.”
Starks improved his overall results from Friday to Saturday, qualifying better and finishing better in both a non-qualifier race and feature action.
“We definitely got better,” he said. “We had speed in hot laps, but we didn’t draw a good pill and the track fell off a ton in qualifying. That put us behind the rest of the night. We’re looking forward to a fresh start this weekend at Park Jefferson.”
