Inside Line Promotions – JACKSON, Minn. (May 18, 2020) – Trey Starks will make his debut at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 this weekend during a World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series event.
The Gobrecht Motorsports competitor invades the oval in Pevely, Mo., on Friday and Saturday, marking his first time racing in the state of Missouri as well.
“It’s a place I’ve always wanted to go to that I haven’t quite made it to,” he said of the high-banked track. “It’s pretty exciting for me. The anticipation is there and it will be with a great field of cars. I’ve watched some videos of races around there and it looks like a really fast and fun place to race.”
Starks will cap this weekend by tackling a Sprint Invaders show on Sunday at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, where he made his debut last summer.
“It was a fun track,” he said. “We were fast, but got into a couple of incidents. That was a 410 race last year so I’m excited to see how it is during a 360 event.”
Starks is looking forward to building on last weekend’s result at the Great Lakes Shootout presented by Tweeter Contracting and Harvey’s Five Star Roofing hosted by Jackson Motorplex.
Starks qualified 18th quickest in his group before finishing where he started – sixth – in a heat race. That relegated him to the seventh starting position in a B Main.
“We just weren’t up to speed when we needed to be,” he said. “When we got everything figured out in the B Main it was too late. We were right there and close to a transfer spot, but it was too late. We learned some valuable things.”
Starks gained a trio of positions and in the closing laps was within striking distance of a transfer position, but ultimately missed moving onto the main event by one spot.
