CHICO, CALIF. (August 28, 2026) – A tradition as old as time continued on Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway: local California drivers beating national stars when they come to town for the Mike Curb Gold Cup Race of Champions presented by NOS Energy Drink.

Names like Brent Kaeding, Kyle Larson, Carson Macedo, Corey Day, Kyle Hirst, Jonathan Allard, Darrell Hanestad, and Sean Becker, among others, can now welcome Dylan Bloomfield to their group after he took down Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing.

Coming from the fifth spot in Friday’s 30-lapper, Bloomfield quickly pointed his Ridgecrest Racing #5K to second while Jett Yantis, a 16-year-old from Bakersfield, California, led the opening seven laps before a big crash out of turn four.

Handed the lead following Yantis’ misstep, Bloomfield seemed in complete control before a lap 19 restart allowed veteran Tim Kaeding the opportunity to snooker him on a restart and lead laps 20-21. Remaining calm, cool and collected, Bloomfield gathered his composure and worked back by Kaeding on lap 22.

From there, the 20-year-old native of Discovery Bay, California survived the final eight laps with defending High Limit champion Rico Abreu right behind him in the second spot. Bloomfield is the 12th different driver to visit Whiskey Myers Victory Lane this season, while Ridgecrest Racing is the 28th team all-time to earn a High Limit win.

Driving from 13th-to-2nd after winning from 9th on Thursday, Rico Abreu earned high point man honors aboard the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing, Waste Connections #24. Daison Pursley found the podium for the first time since March in Arizona with his sixth-to-third run aboard the Kasey Kahne Racing, NAPA Auto Parts #9.

Closing out the top-10 on Friday was Tim Kaeding, Tanner Thorson, Kerry Madsen, Tanner Holmes, Justin Sanders, Justin Peck, and Bud Kaeding.

Ending up top-four in points, Rico Abreu, Dylan Bloomfield, Daison Pursley, and Shane Golobic are locked-in for Saturday’s $100,072-to-win finale at the 72nd Mike Curb Gold Cup Race of Champions presented by NOS Energy Drink.
