PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking part in Saturday’s event with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour, Tanner Carrick would pocket a 17th place finish in the 35-lap feature event.

“We got called for a jump in our heat race, and that took us from a possible Dash/Redraw spot to starting in the back of the pack on a track that really wasn’t conducive for passing,” Tanner Carrick said.  “They reworked it for the feature, and it wasn’t as slick but actually got kind of fast and we just kind of got stuck in the back.”

With 52 cars packed into the pit area on Saturday night, the Lincoln, CA driver go things started by timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83T in second fastest in his qualifying group.

Lining up on the pole of his heat race, the initial start would see a car spin to bring out a yellow, and the ensuing restart it was deemed that Carrick was hard on the throttle early and he was then penalized a row.

Able to finish in the fourth and final transfer spot in his heat, Carrick was securely in the 35-lap feature event where he would roll off of the starting grid from the 18th starting position.

Prior to the feature event, the track would undergo a rework as rubber had gone down the speedway. Ripping it up, and applying more water, the track would hold the moisture very well in the ‘A’, but it created a fast surface that saw a lot of side-by-side racing, though passing would be tough.

“You could get alongside people, but passing them was another story,” Carrick said.

Settling into 18th when the race came to life, Carrick would run hard but would be unable to get moving forward as the race clicked the first 27-laps off with no stoppages.

Bouncing between 18th and 17th in the closing laps of the race, Carrick would ultimately bring his night to a close with a 17th place finish.

“I felt really good all night, and I have to thank the guys for all of their hard work,” Carrick said. “Frustrating to not be able to put a charge together, but we won’t dwell on it, and we will turn our attention to Chico, CA.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support
