PETERSEN MEDIA: Sunday night in Marysville, CA, Tanner Carrick outlasted veteran ace Sean Becker, as Carrick picked up his first Sprint Car Challenge Tour victory of the season by way of his first career Mel and Marlyn Hall Memorial win.

“Our cars have been fast all year, and after the start to our season in winning a couple of races it’s nice to finally get back in victory lane,” Tanner Carrick said. “I thought we were just as good on Saturday night but with circumstances putting us 10th to start the ‘A’ which is just too far back with these fields of cars.”

Carrick opened the night up on Sunday by earning quick time honors in qualifying group aboard the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83T before a third-place finish in his heat race.

By way of his qualifying efforts mixed with his transfer, Carrick was eligible for the High Sierra Industries Dash where the ‘1’ put him on the pole of the six-lap shootout.

Starting alongside younger brother, Blake, Tanner would get the jump and quickly open a sizeable advantage over the field. Winning the Dash going away, Carrick would be set to lead the field to green later that night.

From the pole, Carrick would get a good jump as he navigated around a very tricky Marysville Raceway surface that was hooked up and had developed holes through the night.

Feeling pressure from Sean Becker on a couple of occasions, Carrick would fend him off and continue to lead the way. A late restart took the leaders our of traffic but put Becker back on his rear bumper.

While Carrick hit his marks low, Becker tried everything he could on the high side to get around the youngster, but Carrick would have none of it as he raced to his fourth win of the year.

Getting his weekend kicked off in Saturday in Stockton, CA, Carrick got his Conti, Harris, and Sloan/Emerald/Hanson Truss entry qualified second fastest in his qualifying group.

Slipping back to finish third in his heat race, Carrick would miss out on the Dash and took the green flag from the 10th starting position.

On a super-fast Stockton Dirt Track, early issues would actually cause Carrick to damage his front axle which made for a tough 30-laps.

Doing what he could, Carrick was still able to make headway through the field as he raced his way forward and finished fifth when the race came to an end.

“To get back in victory lane on Sunday night was huge for our team, and me personally,” Carrick said. “Heading to Chico, CA this weekend is another fun place, and I am hoping I can give my guys another win.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Hanson Truss, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support
