PETERSEN MEDIA: Competing at Ocean Speedway and Placerville Speedway over this past weekend, Tanner Carrick had issues hinder on Friday night, before racing to a fourth-place finish on Saturday night in Placerville, CA.

“Friday night we started to have issues with our engine running late, and we made the decision to head to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night to see if we could rectify what hindered us,” Tanner Carrick said. “It ended up being an issue with the pick up in our fuel cell, and we ended up having a good night in Placerville, CA.”

Carrick opened his weekend up on Friday night in Watsonville, CA as he checked in at Ocean Speedway. Timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83T mount in ninth quickest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the Lincoln, CA driver finished in the third position and transferred directly into the 30-lap feature event.

Taking the green flag from the ninth starting position, Carrick spent the first half of the race racing around inside the Top-10. Running in eighth, contact on a mid-race restart led to Carrick then having issues with his power plant.

With the issues, Carrick was then forced into the pit area and his night was over.

Making the decision to head to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night to compete on the ¼ mile bullring and make sure they were able to diagnosis the issues that plagued them the night before, Carrick got off to a strong start as he timed in third fastest amongst the 17 cars checked into the pit area.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Carrick secured a third-place finish and earned a berth in the nightly redraw.

Pulling the five, Carrick took the green flag from the third row on a very fast racing surface.

Setting into sixth when the race came to life, Carrick spent much of the race battling with Michael Sellers as he looked for a spot inside the Top-five. Hounding Sellers, Carrick took the position on the 16th lap, before he was able to race into fourth on the 23rd lap.

The closing laps saw him chase after Michael Faccinto for the final podium position, but running out of time, Carrick brought his weekend to a close with a fourth place finish.

“The track was in really good shape Saturday, but it made it tough to pass with everyone going the same speed,” Carrick said. “We were able to get our issues figured out, and we had a good night as well.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.
