Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (June 16, 2020) – Sides Motorsports came away with a top-10 outing last weekend during the Brownells Big Guns Bash hosted by Knoxville Raceway.
Tim Kaeding charged from 20th to ninth on Friday during his season debut with the team to kick off the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series doubleheader.
“He had to start a little far back, but had a pretty good car late in the race,” team owner Jason Sides said. “He got going good once the fuel burned off. He has a really good balance with that car. We just need to fine-tune it earlier in the night.”
Kaeding qualified 10th quickest in his group and finished fifth in a heat race to lock into the 20th starting position. His rally to ninth was the team’s second top 10 of the season. It was also the second-most cars passed in the feature.
Kaeding followed that performance by maneuvering from eighth to fifth place in a heat race and from 18th to 14th in the main event on Saturday.
“I think the bottom was a little thinner than Friday,” Sides said. “He wanted to get some laps there not racing as much this year. We used that as a test session for him to see where we are at and to make him better. We’re happy with it.”
Sides’ night ended in the Last Chance Showdown both nights.
“We need to make the right rear stick in the corner,” he said. “It gets a little free where I need to be tighter on the right rear. We got better throughout the night on Saturday, but when you hurt yourself in qualifying or the heat races it’s usually a tough hill to climb.”
Sides will venture to Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind., this Friday and Saturday for the next World of Outlaws event.
