The Dirt Slingers Racing League opened its season Thursday night, with Elbows up Sim Sports driver Tyler Schell taking the win in a close event at Lanier Speedway.
Schell started on the outside pole and made his way to the front, but the march to his first win of the season was far from easy.
Dale Blaney Sim Racing driver Michael Sheridan was the Balducci Trucking quick timer and challenged Schell throughout the event. Schell, who finished second in the points a year ago, never wavered and took the win in the 40-lap event.
Sheridan settled for second, with Rusty Kruger, who was racing under the Swindell SpeedLab Sim Racing banner, placed third.
