FOREST, Ohio (September 19, 2022) – A hard-fought weekend in the Hoosier State resulted in a top-five result for Forest, Ohio’s Ray Marshall Motorsports, doing so during USAC National Sprint Car Series competition at Circle City Raceway in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Friday, September 16. Matt Westfall, the ace of Ray Marshall’s familiar No. 33M, finished fifth in his top-five score, utilizing the pole position to battle within the top-five the entire distance.
Although unable to maintain the top spot at the initial start, an eventual five-wide battle for second would see Westfall emerge as the runner-up, keeping his place behind the leader for nearly half of the 30-lapper. The Pleasant Hill, Ohio, native would ultimately fade to fifth.
Unfortunately for Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports, the team would be unable to double-up on their top-five statistic the following evening at Tri-State Speedway; they finished 13th after a late-race tangle.
Westfall has earned top-ten finishes with two different sanctioning bodies in the last two weekends.
“In all, a pretty solid weekend, especially considering our results at Circle City,” Westfall said, powered by Buckeye Machine Fabricators, Inc./Hempy Water/DPI Ink. “It’s been a busy and competitive summer to say the least. We’re hoping to roll into Gas City and Eldora with a full head of steam and hopefully get another ‘W’ for Ray Marshall and the entire team.”
ON DECK:
Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports will continue their 2022 campaign with another two-race weekend with the USAC National Sprint Cars, first visiting Gas City I-69 Speedway in Gas City, Indiana, on Thursday, September 22, then invading Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, on Saturday, September 24.
Westfall owns one victory at Gas City in 2022, which occurred on August 12.
