Inside Line Promotions – MOBERLY, Mo. (June 16, 2020) – Racing the week after your first career victory in a division can be more difficult than getting that first win.

Garet Williamson was facing that dilemma last weekend. It’s easy for a driver to want to get back to Victory Lane so much that he or she presses to relive that moment. That can lead to mistakes and potentially a bent race car.

Despite only being 20-years-old, Williamson didn’t fall into that trap. He put together a consistent weekend that included a sixth-place finish at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., on Friday during an ASCS Warrior Region event and a fourth-place run at Randolph County Raceway on Sunday with the Sprint Invaders.

“Obviously, you want to go out and win again, but I think picking up a top 10 and another top five and winning the Dash at Randolph County was huge for us,” he said. “The speed is still there. It just wasn’t our weekend. We were consistent all weekend and I think that is all you can really ask for.”

That speed Williamson talked about was on display in his heat race Friday night at Lake Ozark Speedway. The Bryant Paver Motorsports entry advanced from third to second place, which locked Williamson into the main event. Williamson’s machine wasn’t bad in the feature, but he could only muster a sixth-place finish after starting eighth on the grid.

On Sunday, Williamson started strong. He cruised from sixth to second in his heat race and came back to win the dash. In the feature, the Columbia, Mo., driver struggled to get to the front as he logged a top-five finish.

“It was just one of those weekends,” he said. “On Friday, we didn’t start close enough to the front. At Randolph, we didn’t play our cards right.

“Finding our rhythm and where we can be every week without throwing things at the car is important. We are finding something we can base our night off of.”

Williamson will need that base and plenty of speed this Saturday when he heads to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, for the first time in his career.

“I’m pumped,” he said. “Ever since I’ve seen the place and growing up, that’s every kid’s dream, racing there and turning laps. To make our first trip up there, that’s huge for us and huge for me. Hopefully we can put it in the show and learn as much as we can before the Nationals.”
