Coronavirus entered the mainstream sport’s world Wednesday and forced the suspension of the National Basketball Association season.

Now, it’s filtered to other leagues. Soccer, hockey, NASCAR, and tennis have all followed suit. And dirt-track racing could be next.

The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series has indicated that its officials are monitoring the situation heading into this weekend’s two-race stop in Texas at Cotton Bowl Speedway and LoneStar Speedway.

Officials are also concerned about the West Coast swing, which consists of two races in Arizona and eight more in California. Golden State lawmakers have suggested that all activities with 250-or-more people should be canceled.

“We are monitoring the situation 24-7,” World of Outlaws Director of Communications, Cristina Cordova, said. “We are working with our team, the tracks, and the promoters concerning the situation.”

According to a release prepared by the series, events are going forward as scheduled. If changes need to be made based on local conditions, the series will communicate via social media outlets to fans.
