Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 11, 2020) – Brian Brown scored a top-10 finish last Friday during a World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series event, which was his first race in approximately three months.

The team is looking forward to tackling another event in the Midwest this weekend when Jackson Motorplex hosts the Great Lakes Shootout presented by Tweeter Contracting and Harvey’s Five Star Roofing.

May 8 – Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa – Qualifying: 5; Heat race: 2 (3); Dash: 7 (8); Feature: 8 (7).

“From my perspective in the driver’s seat I didn’t feel great all night long,” Brown said. “We qualified decent in our group, but missed it by one spot to start on the front row in a heat race. The guys in front got together a bit on the start and let us sneak by for second. Then we drew eighth and finished seventh in the dash before starting seventh and finishing eighth in the main event.

“Me and Donny (Schatz) had a heck of a race for sixth. Me and Donny and Brad (Sweet) were seventh, eighth, ninth, 10th the whole race. Our car wasn’t maneuverable enough and I didn’t do a good enough job. We had a chance to run sixth and I couldn’t figure out a way to get by Lynton (Jeffrey) and Schatz got by us both. I thought if I ran sixth that would have been really good given how we didn’t feel great.”

UP NEXT – Friday and Saturday at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., for the Great Lakes Shootout presented by Tweeter Contracting and Harvey’s Five Star Roofing

“Any time we go to Jackson it seems like we’re in the hunt to win or in the hunt to run about 10th,” Brown said. “Hopefully it’s an in the hunt to win type of night for us. I think there will be 50-to-60 cars that are looking to have a good night also. We’ll have to be on our game. Chad, Nate and dad worked hard on Friday and are working hard at the shop making sure we’re going to have a good run.

“Hopefully this is a step showing the government we can have these races, follow the rules and they will allow us to have fans there real soon.”

SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT – Weld Wheels

Founded in a Kansas City garage in 1967, WELD was the result of a relentless pursuit of speed, durability and safety. Highly successful sprint car driver Greg Weld was unable to find the right combination of strength and performance in wheels that were being made so he decided to make his own.

Fifty years later, a lot has changed, but the values of WELD remain. Its production facility is less than a mile from Pappy Weld’s Speed Shop where Greg’s race cars were built and his passion for performance continues to fuel the company today. Innovation lives on in its industry leading products and relentless pursuit of speed and strength. For more information, visit http://www.WeldWheels.com.

“I think we have 160-plus wins and every single win I’ve had is with Weld Wheels,” Brown said. “They are not only the lightest wheel, but the most durable. We switched to the black wheel this year and everybody seems to like the switch. Weld Wheels has been a long-term supporter and we appreciate them.”
