PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Bubba DeCaires had his best night of the 2023 season to date as the Elk Grove, CA driver picked up a fourth-place finish.

“Saturday night was a really good night for our team,” Bubba DeCaires said. “We were really good from start to finish, and I am hoping we can build from this as we get ready for the “Bradway” in two weeks.”

With 21 cars checked in at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Bubba DeCaires timed the Thompson’s Toyota/Morrison Concrete/MaxSells.Net backed No. 94 in ninth quickest in qualifying time trials.

Based on his qualifying efforts, DeCaires lined up on the front row of heat race where he needed a win to make himself eligible for the redraw.

Jumping on the loud pedal when the race came to life, DeCaires led from flag to flag to garner a spot in the redraw where the six pill put him in the third row for the 25-lap ‘A’ Main.

After the leaders tangled early in the race, DeCaires found himself in third as he chased after the new lead duo of Tanner Carrick and Ashton Torgerson. A mid-race restart saw DeCaires move into second, but his efforts were negated by another caution as he remained in third.

Continuing to hold on to the final position on the podium, DeCaires found himself in a couple of tight battles as he raced with Shane Hopkins and Michael Faccinto.

A late restart put the leaders single file, and DeCaires felt immense pressure from Hopkins as they battled for third on the very slick surface. Hopkins ultimately cleared the DeCaires to take third, and DeCaires fell to fourth where he went on to finish.

“We had the car good all night, I just needed to be more aggressive in the feature,” DeCaires said. “It’s something I will be sure to work on moving forward.”

DeCaires would like to thank Thompson’s Toyota, Morrison Concrete, MaxSells.Net, Wion’s Body Shop, and El Dorado Hills Landscaping for their support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races-6, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-3

ON TAP: DeCaires will be idle this weekend but will return to Placerville Speedway on Friday, June 2nd.
