Inside Line Promotions – BRANDON, S.D. (May 31, 2022) – Jack Dover highlighted last weekend with a runner-up result on Friday at Rapid Speedway.

Dover guided his No. 53 sprint car from sixth to second place in both a heat race and the Midwest Sprint Touring Series main event at the track in Rock Rapids, Iowa.

“At the start of the feature I went around the top in turns one and two,” he said. “In turns three and four I was on the bottom. I was able to make quick moves because I knew rubber would be coming. Sure enough, it started laying down once we got to second about three laps in. I showed my nose to the leader coming out of turn two. I wasn’t able to get past him and I knew the next lap he’d move down, which he did. We just ran second the rest of the race.”

Dover shifted plans to race with the series on Saturday at I-90 Speedway in Hartford, S.D., where he advanced from fifth to third place in a heat race. He lined up sixth in the feature.

“The top had a nice cushion in the heat races, but since everyone was running up there it started laying left rear rubber,” he said. “It progressed down the track throughout the night. I ran a couple of laps in the feature and then pulled off because of the tire situation. It was just a business decision.”

Dover ventured to Huset’s Speedway on Sunday for a Buffalo Wild Wings Northern Outlaw Sprint Association event. He timed in 14th quickest in the Chris and Rick Bowers’ No. 81 sprint car before placing fifth in a heat race. That started the team on the outside of the seventh row in the main event.

“The track was heavy from all of the rain,” he said. “We should have had more gear in the car for qualifying and that put us 14th overall. We were fast and had the second fastest lap in all three heat races. In the feature it was kind of heavy. I screwed up early on and fell back three or four spots. Once I got rolling I passed a couple of cars here and there. Most of the time I was on the bottom because there was a lot of moisture. The track was pretty racy.”

Dover’s 10th-place finish was his seventh top 10 of the season and third straight at Huset’s Speedway, where he ranks seventh in the championship standings.

Dover plans on racing in a trio of races this weekend. It begins on Friday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb. He will then shift his focus to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday before wrapping up the weekend on Sunday at Huset’s Speedway during a World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series event.
