PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Michael Faccinto overcame a tough qualifying effort and charged from 13th to finish fifth in the feature event.

“We had an issue in qualifying and it set us back early, but the F&F Racing guys went to work and we had a fast car in our heat and in the feature,” Faccinto said. “It ended up being a good night for us, and we are all looking forward to the Sprint Car Challenge Tour race this week.”

Timing in 17th out of 21 on Saturday night, Faccinto found himself in an early hole aboard the Bushey Financial Services/C&H Motor Parts/RPI backed No. x1.

Lining up sixth on the grid in his heat race, Faccinto came to life when the green lights flashed on. On a slick surface, the Hanford, CA driver made quick work of the field as he fought his way forward and into second. With the heat race win a reality, Faccinto chased after Jake Morgan.

Getting close to Morgan, Faccinto didn’t quite have enough to put up a challenge for the win and finished second.

Needing to pocket the win to improve his feature event starting position, Faccinto rolled off the starting grid from the 13th starting position on a very slick Placerville Speedway racing surface.

With the first two stars being waived off, the third attempt stuck and Faccinto’s charge from the back was on. An early tangle between the lead duo gave Faccinto a couple of early positions, but the next restart saw him move into fifth on just the fourth lap.

Taking over fourth a lap later, Faccinto continued to work the slick surface as he battled the likes of Bubba DeCaires and Shane Hopkins.

Slipping back to sixth at the race’s halfway point, Faccinto didn’t flinch as he moved back into fifth on the 17th marker.

Continuing to battle hard with Hopkins and DeCaires, Faccinto took a couple shots at fourth, but ultimately settled for a fifth place finish.

“It was great to bounce back like we did, and have that much speed on the slick,’ Faccinto added. “Hoping we can continue to have this same speed as we travel to Marysville Raceway this weekend.”

F&F Racing would like to thank Bushey Financial Services, C&H Motor Parts, Roseville Precision, Lucas Oil, Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes, Sacramento Battery Company, PitStopUSA, FVP, CRV Carbon Solutions, American River Overhead Door, All Pro Heads, Engler, and Don Ott Racing Engines for their support.
