Inside Line Promotions – CHATHAM, La. (June 17, 2020) – Channin Tankersley won a heat race, made the dash and scored a top-10 finish last Sunday during his third career start with the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1.

The Old School Racing competitor improved throughout a trio of races with the series during the Cometic Gasket Thunder Through the Plains presented by Hercules Tires. Tankersley, who has limited 410ci winged sprint car experience, improved his qualifying, heat race and feature result during each of the three nights.

“We learned a lot,” he said. “We’re still trying to figure out everything. We’re getting more comfortable. It is significantly different as far as the adjustments you make toward the car. We’re starting from scratch. The tires were a struggle to get a feel for. In general we were trying to get more comfortable.”

It began on June 5 at Red Dirt Raceway in Meeker, Okla., where Tankersley qualified 25th quickest. He gained two positions in a heat race to place seventh before a sixth-place outing in the B Main earned a transfer into the back of the main event. Tankersley picked up four spots to place 20th.

He resumed competition with the series last Saturday at LoneStar Speedway in Kilgore, Texas. Tankersley timed in 15th quickest overall before finishing fifth in a heat race. He capped the night by advancing from 16th to 14th in the A Main.

The action concluded on Sunday at Chatham Speedway. Tankersley qualified 12 th quickest to kick off the race, which put him on the pole of a heat race.

“Thankfully we did well enough in qualifying to catch the heat race inversion and start on the pole,” he said. “My whole goal was to win it so we could get in the dash. The biggest thing was to get a good start and get going. The way the track was if I didn’t make any mistakes I’d have a good shot at holding them off.”

Tankersley did just that, winning his first career All Star heat race to make the dash for the first time. He then placed eighth in the dash before ending the night 10th in the main event.

“I feel like we made a lot of improvements,” he said. “We gained on it throughout the three nights and will be in a better position when we go racing again. We’re going to take the next couple of weeks off before trying to find a race on July 4 Weekend.”
