PETERSEN MEDIA: Circumstances kept the Carrick Motorsports team parked this past weekend, but a late phone call from Van Dyke Motorsports saw Blake Carrick make the trip to Marysville Raceway where he had a strong night that culminated with a third-place finish.
“Unfortunately, our team ended up not making the trip down south, but Evan Holdsclaw and Harley Van Dyke got in touch with me, and I hopped in the No. 5h car and ran Marysville,” Carrick said. “It was a fun night of racing, and really thankful to them as well as their sponsors for making it all possible.”
No stronger to the Sutter County facility, Carrick adapted well to the famed Nor*Cal entry as he timed in second fastest amongst the 25 drivers that made their way to the facility for a night of short track racing.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Lincoln, CA driver held his own and finished fourth. Locking into the feature, Carrick also earned a spot in the redraw where the six pill lined him up sixth in the 25-lap feature event.
On a very racy Marysville Raceway surface, the leaders would put on a show as they exchanged positions on numerous occasions and battled wheel to wheel all around the ¼ mile.
Carrick would quickly work his way up to the fourth position, before moving into third at the halfway point of the race. Chasing after William Fielding and Jake Haulot, Carrick would actually move into second for a lap in the closing stages of the race.
Falling back to third on the 22nd lap, Carrick would hang on to the podium position as the checkered flag flew over the field.
“I had a blast, and am really thankful to Harley Van Dyke and his team,” Blake Carrick said.
