PETERSEN MEDIA- During Saturday night’s 19th Tribute to Al Hinds at Placerville Speedway, Kaleb Montgomery and the F&F Racing team put together a strong showing at the ¼ mile bullring that resulted in a fourth-place finish.
“Our night got off to a great start in time trials, and we stayed fast until the checkered flag flew,” Montgomery said. “I really feel like Alan Bradway and I are on a very strong path and I feel like we get better each week.”
A total of 37 cars checked into Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for the 19th running of the Tribute to Al Hinds who was a former promoter of Placerville Speedway.
Going out early in time trials, Montgomery set the early standard aboard the Bushey Financial Services/C&H Motor Parts/Lucas Oil backed No. x1 machine before slipping down to third quick when the session ended.
Lining up fourth in his heat race, Montgomery was able to maintain a transfer position as his third-place finish moved him into the 25-lap feature event and earned him a berth in draw based on his qualifying effort.
Pulling the four, the Templeton, CA driver would line up in the second row of the feature event as he lined up alongside eventual race winner, Justin Sanders. On the slick surface in the feature event, Montgomery was able to settle into fifth as the field settled into a green flag run.
Continuing to maintain position inside the Top-5 amidst a couple of hotly contested battles, Montgomery would use a late restart to jump into fourth. Chasing after Shane Golobic in the closing laps, Montgomery would not quite be able to make a move for a position on the podium but did cap off his best night of the season thus far at Placerville Speedway.
“Timing in well and getting through our heat were key in putting us in position for a strong finish,’ Montgomery added. “Thanks to F&F Racing for their continued hard work, and to all of the sponsors who are on our car that continue to support us.”
